NMEC celebrates World Arabic Language Day

In celebration of World Arabic Language Day, NMEC organized a distinguished cultural and artistic event under the theme “A Heritage Renewed through a Radiant Script,” in collaboration with the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Cairo, the Friends of NMEC Association, Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, the Arabic Language Academy, and the Sufi Zadeh family. The event underscored the central role of the Arabic language as one of the most important pillars of cultural and human identity.

This event comes within the framework of the Museum’s role as a cultural and educational institution committed to raising awareness of Egyptian heritage and reinforcing its civilizational values, and out of firm belief in the importance of the Arabic language and its historical status as a vessel of identity and the collective memory of the nation.

The event also witnessed the opening of an art exhibition in partnership with the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Cairo, featuring a collection of artworks highlighting the aesthetics of Arabic calligraphy, alongside a distinguished heritage exhibition showcasing the works and collections of the Sufi Zadeh family, including artworks and documentary films that chronicle their artistic journey.

As part of the collaboration with Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, a selection of artworks celebrating the beauty of Arabic calligraphy was displayed, and a series of interactive workshops were organized with the participation of 25 Al-Azhar students. These included workshops on writing on leather, writing names in various styles of Arabic calligraphy, printing on paper, and freehand drawing of calligraphic art. The workshops received wide interest and acclaim from visitors.
