In an exceptional event, the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization hosted on its grand theatre the renowned Maestro Nader Abbassi, where he articulated his insights on “Reviving Musical Heritage”.
Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, Managing Executive Director of NMEC, began the evening by welcoming the attendees and distinguished guests, highlighting the importance of conducting cultural and artistic events that reflect the status and value of Egypt’s civilization and inspire the public to visit the museum and get acquainted with the Egyptian civilization’s rich cultural heritage.
A lecture by archaeologist and former Minister of Antiquities, Dr. Zahi Hawass, on the most recent archaeological discoveries in Egypt, an art exhibition entitled "Eternal Egypt" by Egyptian artist Dr. Farid Fadel, in addition to a musical performance by viola player Suzan Saber.

On the occasion of International Children’s day, and in light of the joint cooperation between NMEC and the Ministry of Culture, the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization presented “Rehlet el-Zaman el-Gameel” or “Journey of the Beautiful Time”; a puppet show produced by the Cairo’s Puppet Theater.

In collaboration with AUC Press, the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization hosted a book talk and a Q&A session with Egyptologist & Author; Dr. Bob Brier, to discuss his most recent book; “The Luxor Obelisk and Its Voyage to Paris” (AUC Press, 2021).
The book talk was attended by Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, Managing Executive Director of NMEC, along with a considerable number of scholars from across Cairo, many of whom are Egyptologists, and are completing research in various aspects of Egyptology.

The Roman Theater at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization hosted a musical event for the famous Marimba player Nesma Abdel Aziz, as part of the cultural and artistic programs offered at the museum. It is worth mentioning that cultural events are celebrated within a strict implementation of all health and safety protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Within the programs of culture and art, that was organised by the NMEC, it welcomed the great musician Manal Mohy El Din, in the outdoor roman theatre on the evening of Tuesday 13th July; where she awed her audience by playing solos on her unique harp. The playlist included a number of folk and traditional Egyptian music but also a collection of her new works.

Under the title “El Lela El Kebira”, NMEC organised a puppet show in the large indoor theatre. It involved a puppet-operetta of El Lela el Kebira and an exhibition for the work of the infamous puppeteer Nagy Shaker. The ceremony was well received by visitors to the museum who were keen to attend and participate with their children. The exhibition displayed a number of original character sketches of the operetta, also a collection of his other work outside the field of puppets. One of his significant work outside the realm of puppets is the interior design and costume design of the film “Shafika and Metwally”.

The screening of a film documentary “Being Free” officially kickstarts the museums’ arts and culture annual program on Monday the 5th of July 2021.
Egyptian director Sherif Fathy filmed ceramics and pottery artist Heba Helmy’s journey while referring to her work as similar to that of excavators and archeologists.
