The Board of Directors of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization met yesterday under the chairmanship of Dr Khaled El-Enany, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities.
A Board meeting of Directors of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization was held yesterday, headed by Dr. Khaled El Enany, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, at the museum’s headquarters in Fustat, where Dr. Hala El-Said, the Minister of Planning and Economic Development have participated in the meeting via video conferencing.
The Minister of Tourism and Antiquities began the meeting by welcoming the members of the Board at its first session of the year, wishing them further success and substantial progress.
During the meeting, Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, the Managing Executive Director of NMEC, briefed the Board of Directors on a number of topics regarding the official visits received by the museum during the month of January, as well as the most prominent cultural and artistic events organized and hosted by the museum since the beginning of the year, including the first edition of the largest international contemporary art event “The World Art Forum (WAF)” for sustainable development, the live performance for the jazz vocalist; Ahmed Harfoush and his band, in addition to the educational, cultural, artistic, archeological and touristic events and workshops organized by the museum.
In this context, Dr. Khaled Al-Anani emphasized the significance of conducting such activities, praising the museum’s administration for its efforts in welcoming diplomatic dignitaries visiting Egypt, and in organizing various activities and events that contribute in raising the people’s tourism, archeological and cultural senses of awareness, and enriching their sense of belonging, which resonates with the ministry’s strategy, especially with regard to museums and their role as a cultural and educational beacon in addition to its traditional role of displaying antiquities.
The Managing Executive Director of NMEC also briefed the Board on the soon to be received technological equipment at NMEC’s Restoration Center.
