The Minister of Tourism and Antiquities chairs the meeting of the Board of Directors of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization.
A Board meeting of Directors of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization was held yesterday, headed by Dr. Khaled El Enany, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, at the museum’s headquarters in Fustat, where a number of topics were reviewed and furtherly discussed.
The Minister of Tourism and Antiquities began the meeting by welcoming the members of the Board, wishing them further success and substantial progress, and wishing them a blissful Ramadan.
During the meeting, Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, the Managing Executive Director of NMEC, briefed the Board of Directors on a number of topics such as the release of the second issue of the museum’s electronic newsletter, NMEC’s increasing visitors rate; reaching to 100,000; marking the highest rate of visitors the museum has achieved since its opening in April, 2021, and finally, the decided dates for visiting the museum during the holy month of Ramadan.

‏Last night, the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat organized a book-signing event and a discussion moderated by Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, Managing Executive Director of NMEC, on the life and the long-established career of Omar Khairat, followed by a live musical concert by the renowned Egyptian musician, as part of the cultural and artistic programs offered at the museum. The event was attended by a number of distinguished guests, Egyptian artists, senior public officials and ambassadors of foreign countries, who flocked to NMEC’s Grand Theater.
‏It is worth-mentioning that the event coincided with the release of the memories of Omar Khairat, titled as; “ ‘The Rebel’ Chronicles Life of Legendary Omar Khairat” in cooperation with Authentic Artist and Nahdet Misr Publishing Group.
‏For his part, the musician Omar Khairat thanked the attendees, expressing his appreciation with what he perceived at NMEC of unique archaeological treasures and the cultural program of the museum to raise the archaeological awareness of Egyptians as well as their taste and artistic sense.

Accompanied by our curator; Bassem Raouf, the distinguished guests have toured the museum’s halls such as the Core Exhibition Hall, and the Royal Mummies Hall to get acquainted with is distinguished artifacts and breathtaking archeological treasures.
At the end of their visit, the delegation were impressed with their overall experience at NMEC, highlighting their admiration towards the uniqueness of Egypt’s civilization and the museum’s rich collections that are well-developed through its narrative.

The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization continues to receive a number of international dignitaries, government officials and public figures from Egypt and the world since its grand opening in April 2021. The museum received three official visits of The Head of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s General Auditing Bureau; Dr. Hossam Al Anqari, Bahrain’s Shura Council Chairman; H.E Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh and his accompanying delegation, and H.E Noh Hyeong-ouk, Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of South Korea.
The distinguished delegations have expressed their admiration of NMEC’s displayed artifacts, its impressive facilitates, as well as the prominent cultural role it plays.

The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization received a high-level delegation from the United Arab Emirates’ Federal National Council, FNC, namely; H.E. Saqr Ghobash, the Speaker of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates, and his accompanied delegation, on the sidelines of their current visit to Cairo to participate in the three days meeting of the preparatory committee of the 4th Congress of the Arab Parliament and Speakers of Arab Assemblies and Parliaments, scheduled from February 16 to 19 in Egypt’s Cairo. The delegation was warmly welcomed by Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, Managing Executive Director of NMEC, and Fayrouz Fekry, Deputy Director for Management and Operation of NEMC, where Dr. Ghoneim delivered an overview of the museum and its displayed collections, that tells the story of Egypt’s richness throughout different eras.

On Friday and Saturday, the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat reported record attendance of 12,000 visitors, the highest attendance rate since the museum opened its doors in April, 2021.
Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, Managing Executive Director of NMEC says: “The museum witnessed, during the past two days, a remarkable influx of visitors, amounting to about 12,000 visitors, from all over Egypt, in addition to Arab and foreign tourists”.
It is worth-mentioning that the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat has become a magnet for visitors since its opening, as well as the magnificent Royal Mummies, that have been transferred to NMEC in a ground-breaking parade, back in April 2021.

Earlier today, Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, Managing Executive Director of NMEC has received Mr. Mohammad Barkindo, the Secretary General of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries OPEC, and his accompanying delegation, on the sidelines of the fifth edition of Egypt Petroleum Show (EGYPS 2022), which will take place from 14-16 February, 2022 at the Egypt International Exhibition Centre.

Today marks the launching the of the first day of NMEC’s first scientific forum organized by the Conservation and Restoration Center of Antiquities at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat, titled “Modern Scientific Methods for Examination and Analysis of Archaeological Materials”.
Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, Managing Executive Director of NMEC, began the forum by welcoming the attendees and highlighting the importance of conducting such events that
encourages scientific dialogues and the exchange of innovative ideas with the scientific intelligentsia from various fields such as the Faculty of Archeology in Cairo University, the National Research Center along with NMEC’s cadre of scientists.

A Spanish school gifts the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization with 40 paintings by its students about famous Egyptian tourist and archaeological destinations.
The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat received a commemorative flag and 40 paintings on Egypt’s most famous tourist and archaeological destinations, which were drawn by 40 first-graders and their tutor from “Nuestra Señora del Carmen”, a primary school from the Spanish-Andalusian village of Torre de la Reina.
In a friendly gesture, the Spanish Cultural Counselor Candido Chris, presented the drawings to Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, the Managing Executive Director of NMEC, as part of a cultural initiative embarked by the students of Nuestra Senora del Carmen, titled “Walking around in different Museums of the world”, on the occasion for the centennial discovery of King Tutankhamun’s tomb, and as an affirmation of the importance of Egyptology and the world’s fondness for the ancient Egyptian civilization.
Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim and Ms. Lamia Kamel, Assistant Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, invited these students through a short video clip to visit Egypt and enjoy watching its tourist and archaeological landmarks, especially the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization.
