The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization organized a scientific lecture delivered by the distinguished Egyptologist and AUC Professor of Egyptology; Dr. Salima Ikram, titled; “Egypt’s Royal Mummies: From Discovery To Display”.
The lecture was attended by leading experts in the fields of Archeology, and officials such as British, Portuguese, and Canadian Ambassadors to Cairo, the Spanish Cultural Advisor, and the President of the European Development Bank. While the renowned Dr. Farouk El-Baz and Dr. Hani El-Noqrashi participated in the live broadcast on the museum’s social media platforms.
The lecture traces the history of the royal mummies from their inception, into their most recent incarnations in Egypt, highlighting their roles as grand historic figures, ambassadors for Egypt, political symbols, and nationalist icons.
Dr. Ikram explored as well as the evolving details of mummification over time, and the ancients’ beliefs of death, burial, and the afterlife. In addition, the lecture unveiled the royal mummies journey from their decade-old residence in the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir to their final destination at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat, in an extravagant parade that grabbed the world’s attention back in April, 2021.

NMEC organized a training program titled; “Customer Service and Anger Management

The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization organized a training program titled; “Customer Service and Anger Management”, in order to raise the employees’ tourism, archeological and cultural senses of awareness, and methods of interacting and communicating with the museum’s visitors. Lasted for two consecutive days, the training program included lectures and practical trainings under the supervision of Dr. Suha Bahgat, Advisor to the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities for Training. The lectures and training were delivered by Dr. Ahmed Abdel-Alim Al-Nasharty, a lecturer and a tourism specialist at the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, titled “Anger and Time Management”, and Dr. Adel Thabet Director of the Department of Inspection of Restaurants and Tourist Facilities, who delivered a lecture titled “Customer Service and Communication”.
Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim emphasized that the training courses are designed to enhance the skills and capabilities of NMEC’s employees’ as well as enhance the quality of services provided to the museum’s visitors.

The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat, receives the former president of Yemen H.E; Ali Nasir Muhammad, Yemen’s Ambassador to Cairo H.E; Ali Muhsen Hamid, and their accompanied delegation.
The delegation was received by Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, the Managing Executive Director of NMEC, were they have toured the museum’s halls such as the Core exbition Hall, and the Royal Mummies Hall to get acquainted with is distinguished artifacts, mainly the magnificent Royal Mummies, that have been transferred to NMEC in a ground-breaking parade, back in April 2021.
Our guests have expressed their delight with their overall experience at the NMEC, highlighting their admiration towards the uniqueness of Egypt’s Civilization that is well-expressed through the museum’s rich collections.

The Board of Directors of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization met yesterday under the chairmanship of Dr Khaled El-Enany, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities.
A Board meeting of Directors of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization was held yesterday, headed by Dr. Khaled El Enany, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, at the museum’s headquarters in Fustat, where Dr. Hala El-Said, the Minister of Planning and Economic Development have participated in the meeting via video conferencing.
The Minister of Tourism and Antiquities began the meeting by welcoming the members of the Board at its first session of the year, wishing them further success and substantial progress.
During the meeting, Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, the Managing Executive Director of NMEC, briefed the Board of Directors on a number of topics regarding the official visits received by the museum during the month of January, as well as the most prominent cultural and artistic events organized and hosted by the museum since the beginning of the year, including the first edition of the largest international contemporary art event “The World Art Forum (WAF)” for sustainable development, the live performance for the jazz vocalist; Ahmed Harfoush and his band, in addition to the educational, cultural, artistic, archeological and touristic events and workshops organized by the museum.
In this context, Dr. Khaled Al-Anani emphasized the significance of conducting such activities, praising the museum’s administration for its efforts in welcoming diplomatic dignitaries visiting Egypt, and in organizing various activities and events that contribute in raising the people’s tourism, archeological and cultural senses of awareness, and enriching their sense of belonging, which resonates with the ministry’s strategy, especially with regard to museums and their role as a cultural and educational beacon in addition to its traditional role of displaying antiquities.
The Managing Executive Director of NMEC also briefed the Board on the soon to be received technological equipment at NMEC’s Restoration Center.

The museum has received the The Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, Dr. Hassan Nazim and Libya’s State Minister of Culture and their accompanied delegations. The delegations were received by Fayrouz Fekry, Deputy Director for Operation and Management, who accompanied the delegation on a tour around NMEC’s halls, mainly the Core Exhibition Hall and the Royal Mummies Hall to get acquainted with is distinguished artifacts and breathtaking archeological treasures.

The Minister were keen to write a word in the museum’s visit book, in which they expressed their  fascination with the ancient Egyptian civilization, the NMEC’s facilities and the staff’s warm reception.

NMEC organized a live workshop on the Art of Sculpting

The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization organized a live workshop on the Art of Sculpting, where visitors exclusively experienced carving on granite, quartz, lime and sand stones, which came as part of the museum’s endeavor to reinstate interest in sculpture as one most distinguished forms of arts in ancient Egypt.

Nancy Ammar, a Senior Heritage Specialist, stated that artist; Barakat Hamza, applied the carving skills and techniques on a replica for the statue of “Khunsu”, typical to the statue presented at NMEC’s Core Exhibition Hall, using traditional tools as well as modern equipment. Manar Hassan, a Senior Heritage Specialist illustrated that a block of sandstone was provide for visitors in order to facilitate the learning and application experience.

Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, Managing Executive Director of NMEC, indicated that the event was well received by local, and international visitors and children in particular, who expressed their great happiness for learning the skills and techniques of such craft.

NMEC announces the release of an updated version of the museum’s Mobile Application; “NMEC”.

The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization announces the release of an updated version of the museum’s Mobile Application; “NMEC”.
As part of the technological accomplishments witnessed by various museums and archaeological sites in line with the digital transformation project of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the first update of the mobile application “NMEC” of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat was released.
Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, Managing Executive Director of NMEC demonstrated that updates came a result of the application’s users’ ratings and feedbacks, received from NMEC’s both national and international visitors. Dr. Ghoneim emphasized that the museum will continue the updating process in order to enhance and facilitate the visitors’ experience of the museum, emphasizing its role as a cultural beacon.
Launched in cooperation with IPMagiX, and accessed by Google Play and App Store,
the Mobile App aims at providing the ultimate guide to the Museum for visitors, as well as an in-depth information for those seeking more about the history of NMEC’s collections. In addition, the Mobile Application offers a general museum information; including the option to purchase tickets and hours of operation, as well as a list of the museum’s exhibits with photos and descriptions of important artifacts in its collection. It is worth mentioning that the Mobile application provides its users a self-guided tour at the museum building and its exhibition halls through the “Indoor Navigation” tool, that offers NMEC’s guests new ways to self-discover, and make the most out of their visit while onsite.

The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat organized a live workshop on Appliqué and the Art of Patchwork, in collaboration with Egyptian Clothing Bank and ALMAH project. Through the live workshop, NMEC’s visitors were offered a unique opportunity to examine the basic elements of constructing leather bags, totes and mobile cases, using completely recycled genuine leather, depicting the skills and techniques hired in the 3000 years Tent of Iset-M-Kheb, displayed at NMEC’s Core Exhibition Hall, that hires the Art of Patchwork and is made from patches of goatskin leather.
Nancy Ammar, a Senior Heritage Specialist, emphasized that the Tent of Iset-M-Kheb tells us the funerary secrets and provides historical evidence of ancient Egypt’s leading role in the world of textile manufacturing.
