The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat organized a live workshop on Appliqué and the Art of Patchwork, in collaboration with Egyptian Clothing Bank and ALMAH project. Through the live workshop, NMEC’s visitors were offered a unique opportunity to examine the basic elements of constructing leather bags, totes and mobile cases, using completely recycled genuine leather, depicting the skills and techniques hired in the 3000 years Tent of Iset-M-Kheb, displayed at NMEC’s Core Exhibition Hall, that hires the Art of Patchwork and is made from patches of goatskin leather.
Nancy Ammar, a Senior Heritage Specialist, emphasized that the Tent of Iset-M-Kheb tells us the funerary secrets and provides historical evidence of ancient Egypt’s leading role in the world of textile manufacturing.
